Nelson Mandela

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela born 18 July ,1918 died 5 December 2013. Madiba as he is familiarly known, was incarcerated for a total of 27 years. He was convicted for taking up arms against the Apartheid Regime. “ I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons will live together in harmony and with equal opportunities It is an ideal for which I hope to live for and to see realized. But, my Lord, if it needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.” Rivonia Trial Speech, 1964 When a man or woman are prepared to lay down their lives for an idea, the message is maximized 1000 times plus. Madiba negotiated his own release with F. W. de Klerk and the South African government. He moved from prisoner to President of his own country; to my estimation this was indeed a very significant event. I was only eleven years old at the time of Mandela's incarceration. I am thoroughly delighted to have witnessed his release and the destruction of apartheid. It is my view that skin color or geographical location do not determine ones intelligence or the magnitude of ones' likely accomplishment.Apartheid taught some folk to be superior from birth and others to accept their inferior status. Apartheid has died a well deserved death You can read more about Nelson Mandela in ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ http://www.trenbiz1.com /Books.html
